Ellis Island Statue of Liberty with Dinner

Spend the day exploring Ellis Island, the Museum of Immigration and Statue of Liberty Park tracing the history and symbolism of the Statue of Liberty through museum objects, photographs and videos. Lunch can be bought at the island or bring your own! A ferry ride is included. Entrance into the statue will be arranged pending availability. A stop will be made at the 9/11 Memorial ‘Empty Sky’, located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, near the historic Central Railroad Terminal of New Jersey. ‘Empty Sky’ is the official State of New Jersey’s Memorial that honors the memory of 746 New Jersey lives lost at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Names are placed randomly on the twin brushed stainless steel walls. Individuals’ names (four inches tall) are within reach and engraved deep enough for hand rubbing. The memorial, designed by Jessica Jamroz and Frederic Schwartz, was dedicated on September 11, 2011. The twin walls are 210’ long, the width of each side of the World Trade Center Towers. They rise 30 feet, standing parallel to each other with a 12’ wide paved path of bluestone between them. Like the World Trade Center, the stainless steel reflects the constantly changing light of day.

Dinner will be included before returning home.

The Statue of Liberty Museum’s goal is not only to reach a much larger audience, but also to enhance the general visitor experience by offering more interactive and engaging multimedia experiences. It will educate about the construction, history and meaning of the Statue of Liberty through three gallery spaces. The Immersive Theater, the Engagement Gallery and the Inspiration Gallery. The Statue of Liberty’s original torch, by the way, will be relocated into the Inspiration Gallery and visible from the outside through a large glass wall.
