Mountain Trains Tour - All Aboard for Foliage!!!

Discover the fabulous mountains of New England aboard three picturesque mountain train rides in three different states! Travel to the beautiful Berkshire region of Massachusetts, explore Norman Rockwell's charming village of Stockbridge and enjoy the sparkle of New England's incredible foliage with views of Mount Greylock and the surrounding Hoosac Mountain Range aboard the Berkshire's railway. Stay two nights in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Tour through Hildene Estate, home of the Lincoln family descendants, a 24-room Georgian Revival mansion featuring a pipe organ played for all. Hop aboard the Green Mountain Railway; ride in fully restored 1930’s antique passenger coaches with views of covered bridges, cascading waterfalls and Brockway Mills Gorge. Travel Vermont's top foliage route to the historic Vermont Country Store. Spend a day in the fabulous White Mountains of New Hampshire; for a Maple Experience and a drive through picturesque Franconia Notch where shear rock walls reach up to the sky. All aboard the "Taste of New Hampshire" mountain train excursion. Munch on samples of New Hampshire made and grown products as you ride the rails through the majestic White Mountains, through passes and notches with grand mountain vistas with amazing foliage. Stop at a Farm Stand adorned with life-size Scarecrows made by local famous artisans.

Day 1

Depart our office in Audubon
Stockbridge, MA - Take time for lunch on own and explore this charming New England Village, home of the beloved American illustrator, Norman Rockwell.
Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop - Enjoy panoramic views on a ride to the top of the orchard, learn history of the orchard and the area. Visit the wonderful bake shop and enjoy some farm-fresh cider and homemade donuts.

Arrive at the Killington Mountain Lodge, Killington, VT - (2 Nights) (Hotel subject to change)

Day 2

Deluxe Continental Breakfast
Green Mountain Flyer Rail Excursion - Ride in fully restored 1930's antique passenger coaches pulled by a vintage locomotive. Travel along the Connecticut and Williams Rivers between Bellows Falls and the 1872 Chester Depot. Pass by covered bridges, a beautiful cascading waterfall and Brockway Mills Gorge. Cross over the rivers for breath-taking views.
Manchester, VT - Take time for lunch on own in this New England town filled with shopping and eateries.
Hildene Estate and Gardens - Tour through Hildene Estate, home of the Lincoln family descendents. This 24-room Georgian Revival mansion features original furnishings, family artifacts, gorgeous gardens and a 1000 piece Aeolian Organ played for each group; Walk through the incredibly ornate 1903 Pullman Palace Car Sunbeam and see you the rich and famous traveled at the turn of the century; Visit the Cheese makers. So much to see and all beautifully perched in the scenic Green Mountains of Vermont!

Day 3

Deluxe Continental Breakfast
New Hampshire Maple Experience - Visit Fadden's maple sugarhouse, boasting syrup worthy of being named New Hampshire's best a whopping five times, as well as being once named the best in North America! The adjacent 18th century general store is a fifth-generation treasure.
Flume Gorge Visitor Center - Perched high on a ridge in the scenic White Mountains with a million dollar view, see the orientation film to the notch including history on the famous "Old Man on the Mountain". Learn about the "Granite State" through exhibits on nature and commerce. Take time for lunch in the Cafeteria.
Franconia Notch - Drive through one of New Hampshire's most scenic passages where shear rock walls reach up to the sky. Home of the site of the state's symbol, the ill-fated "Old Man on the Mountain".
Taste of New Hampshire - Mountain Train Excursion - Fall doesn't get any better!!! Munch on samples of New Hampshire made and grown products as you ride the rails through the majestic White Mountains of New Hampshire, through passes and notches with grand mountain vistas, and amazing foliage. Following the winding "Pemi" River you'll cross over two span trestle. Stop at a Farm Stand adorned with life-size Scarecrows made by local famous artisans. Pick up your favorite New Hampshire goodies.

Expanded Continental Breakfast - With hot choices.
Berkshire Scenic Railway - Sit back and enjoy the sparkle of New England's bright foliage with views of Mount Greylock (the highest point in Massachusetts) and the surrounding Hoosac Mountain Range. Learn all about this mountainous region from the gilded age with the on-board narration.
North Adams - Enjoy lunch on own in Massachusetts smallest city.
Depart for home
