Sunset, seafood, and sunshine for this new ‘Southern Porches’ tour of the Low Country. Each evening, enjoy sunsets from “porches” overlooking the unique waterways and marshes of Beaufort and Charleston, South Carolina, & Savannah, Georgia! Experience Antebellum mansions, unique Gullah Geechee cultures, conquistadors, carriage rides, beachcombing, bird watching, boating, and more during this truly unique, carefree, and unhurried tour.  Includes 5 nights accomodations, A Horse Drawn Carriage ride in Beauford, Captain Dick's River Tour and Dolphin Watch, Appetizers and drinks on an Antebellium porch followed by dinner with water views, Catch the spirit of the Island onboard a Convertible Sprinter traveling beaches and backroads, visit Praise House, Pat Conroy grave, Slave Cemetery, Penn Center, The Plantation House, visit to a beautiful barrier Island, Low Country Shrimp Boil lunch, visit the Shrimp Docks, dinner on the porch of the Fish Camp overlooking the docks, Visit to Savannah for some exciting touring (see itinerary), visit the 100 year old Gullah Geechee Community on the banks of Moon River with BBQ lunch on a deck with incredible views, see Live Oaks and Spanish Moss, Estate of Noble Jones with a chance to try Cricket, Oyster Appetizers and sunsets from a porch, visit to Maritime Center, tour a historic home of Johnny Mercer and enjoy a Mint Julep, 5 breakfast, 5 dinners, admission and guide service as stated in itinerary baggage handling and more!

Day 1


Leave Audubon and start our travel south
Arrive in Dunn N.C. for the evening

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel prior to checking out. (DI) Baggage handling is included. This afternoon arrive to your home for the next 4 days: Beaufort, SC. Enjoy lunch on own and free time to shop the one of a kind unique boutiques. There are no franchise restaurants or shops permitted in this quaint and comfortable Antebellum town. Enjoy a Horse-drawn Carriage Ride and learn about Beaufort's history, see Hollywood movie sets, gorgeous gardens, ancient churches, and many Civil War era Antebellum homes.
Afterwards, enjoy Captain Dick's River Tour and Dolphin Watch. Enjoy refreshments as we see playful dolphins and salt marsh birds while relaxing in the balmy bay breeze. Check into your hotel in Beauford N. C. Baggage handling is included. This evening enjoy appetizers and drinks on an Victorian porch with views of the Beaufort River. Walk a few yards to our dining porch with beautiful water views or window seating inside (weather dependent).

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel then we are off to CATCH THE SPIRIT OF The Islands onboard our Convertible Sprinters with 60 degree unobstructed panoramic views. Travel the beaches and backroads inaccessible on a full size motorcoach while we discover what makes this area so unique. Roll back the retractable roof once we pull off of the main roads. Enjoy the beach as the beach should be enjoyed! Smell the earthy marsh and salty tidal air, soak in the sunlight, and enjoy the fresh air breezes.This morning we "Journey from Slavery to Freedom" catching the spirit of island life and its unique history and heritage. Next VISIT THE PRAISE HOUSE, PAT CONROY GRAVE, SLAVE CEMETERY and Penn Center. SEE THE PLANTATION HOUSE FROM THE impressive AVENUE OF OAKS. Next we are off to do a little beachcombing at an undisturbed and beautiful barrier Island. See the lighthouse, learn its history and climb, if you dare! Walk the beach while learning about the unique eco-systems of this area, an Audubon and turtle preserve. Explore this Island that was the location of the Viet Nam Beach Scene where Forrest Gump carried Bubba to safety. Lunch is a Low Country Shrimp Boil, AKA Frogmore Stew, served at the SEA ISLAND CENTER where we will "Hear the Rest of the Story" from a local storyteller and historical interpreter. Next we will visit the Shrimp Docks, where your shrimp was harvested for our Low Country Boil today! Owned by a local shrimper, see how they catch from the sea with their nets, boats and docks. Get a close up experience of low country life and the history of shrimping on the island. Visit the docks and learn the history, heritage and traditions of the commercial shrimping in the low country. See the boats and docks where Forrest Gump was depicted. On the journey back to the hotel, time permitting, we will stop at a local farm market for a chance to purchase and take back some homemade culinary delights such as WEE Gumbo or pick a watermelon to enjoy at the hotel this evening. Relax at the hotel before departing for a Fish Camp where we will dine on the proch overlooking the docks as the sun sets on the sound.

Day 4

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Journey under an hour away today to enjoy a unique tour of Savannah in our convertible mini bus! This is the best way to view the historic beauty of Savannah! Enjoy expansive 360 degree panoramic views from this vehicle with a fully retractable glass top. See Historic steeples, Spanish moss and South Carolina sunshine as we enjoy a 90 minute driving tour of the Historic District before we venture off to discover the best of the Low Country! Next, visit a 100-year old Gullah Geechee Community quietly isolated on the banks of Moon River (Yes, THAT Moon River!), and learn about the unique aspects of their oyster and crab aquaculture practiced for over a century. Here we will enjoy a BBQ lunch served by the regional cook off BBQ Master! Lunch is served on the deck surrounded by incredible Marsh views! " Today we'll see one of the largest rows of Live Oaks and Spanish moss in the U.S. Colonial interpreters will tell the story of the Estate of Noble Jones (1702-1775). You will get to try your hand at Cricket on the original grass Cricket lawn located here. Enjoy Oyster Appetizers while the sunsets from a porch nestled in the heart of Sandfly offering panoramic views of the waters of the marsh and tidal inlet. Move inside for window view seating and a dinner of locally sourced, fresh seafood. Return to the hotel.

Day 5

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel prior to checking out. Baggage handling is included. This morning our first stop is the Maritime Center where we will experience, discover, explore and connect with these waters, some of the most pristine in the country. Enjoy Dynamic exhibits that dive into the ecology, history, culture, art and recreation that help define the Sound. See amazing animals, including many species of fish in our 3,000-gallon aquarium. Board A 63' powered catamaran with upper and lower decks, and a full bar that serves your favorite beverages to get close up with the very unique waterways system due to the large inflow of fresh water from the ACE Basin. Enjoy lunch on own at our Premier Rooftop Restaurant! located in the Historic Landmark District of Downtown Savannah. Step afoot our natural hard wood decking, contemporary décor, and immerse yourself in mixture of rich history and modern design. A premier location overlooking the Savannah River offers stunning views, the perfect complement to adventure on River Street. Tour one of Savannah's most historic homes. Johnny Mercer stops by to sing a bit of "Moon River" and tell us about his life here. Enjoy a farewell Mint Julep before departing for home. Dinner on your own this evening then we will check into our hotel in Dunn N. C. for our final night stay. Baggage handling included
