INSIDE THE EMBASSIES OF WASHINGTON D.C. AND MORE!!

 

 A rare event available one weekend in May every year. Tour these exotic and beautiful buildings. The embassies have indigenous treats, cultural performances, touring, and shopping for crafts and goods from their countries. Includes ,free time in Georgetown, tour the historic Dumbarton Oaks Mansion and stately gardens, visit the Society of the Cincinnati National Headquarters- Anderson House a hidden gem in Washington D. C.  Spend the day Inside the Embassies where you will meet your guide and line up to visit area Embassies to beat the lines that occur later in the day and learn the secrets and unique cultural traditions inside these DC's Embassies, Explore the National Law Enforcement Museum, enjoy a Illuminated Monument Driving Tour, visit Hillwood Estate Museum and Gardens, visit the National Portrait Gallery, tour the Mansion on O Street, two breakfast and dinners, two nights’ accommodations, admissions and guide service as stated in the itinerary, taxes and gratuity except for guide service and driver and baggage handling.

 

Day 1

Arrive to Washington, DC and enjoy lunch on own and free time in Georgetown. Explore the charming area's Federal-style architecture, cobblestone streets and fashion and design shops. The dining scene is defined by upmarket restaurants and waterfront seafood spots. Georgetown Waterfront Park has a riverside promenade and gardens, and there's a bike path along the C&O Canal.
"Meet GUIDE and Tour historic Dumbarton Oaks Mansion, Museum & stately gardens, the residence and garden of Robert Woods Bliss and his wife Mildred Barnes Bliss. The Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection was founded here by the Bliss couple, who gave the property to Harvard University in 1940. Later visit the Society of the Cincinnati National Headquarters- Anderson House. This is a hidden gem in Washington, D.C. The Anderson House was the winter residence of Larz Anderson, an American diplomat to Japan, and his wife, Isabel Weld Perkins, an author and Red Cross volunteer. Architects Arthur Little and Herbert Browne of Boston designed Anderson House in the Beaux-Arts, or Academic Classical, style at a cost of over $750,000 in 1905 when construction was complete. The Andersons used the house to entertain the social and political elite of America and abroad, as well as to showcase their collection of fine and decorative art and historic artifacts that the couple acquired in their extensive travels.

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.then depart for iyour inside the Embassies tour with your guide that will help you explore them and help you to beat the lines that occure later in the day. Afterwards continue on for lunch on your own before discovering the secrets and unique cultural traditions inside DC's Embassies. Explore National Law Enforcement Museum . The 57,000 square foot museum has 3 stories underground and more than 21,000 artifacts from every era of law enforcement! Feel what it's like to walk in the shoes of law enforcement with high tech interactive exhibits, see a bulletproof vest from c.1930 that was used by gangster Al Capone, and learn about the hard-working heroes that keep America safe. Later enjoy dinner included at The Front Page Restaurant and Grill. Begin with Mixed Green Salad; Choice of Entrée: Blackened Chicken Fettuccini, Bistro Flank Steak, BBQ Ribs, Pasta Primevera (Veg). Enjoy a Brownie Sundae for dessert. Includes non-alcoholic drinks. Please make selection upon arrival. After dinner depart on an Illuminated Monument Driving Tour. Washington's grand buildings, memorials, and monuments sparkle and are impressive during the day; but in the evenings they are illuminated, soft, focusing the solid stones and bronzes; fountains and water features shimmer in reflection; shadows darken highlighting the floodlit detail. Impressive during the day - stunning at night!
Return back to hotel.

Day 3

Breakfast included baggage pick up then depart with guide for your drive along Embassy Row andthe Washington National cathedral before visiting the Hillwood Estate Museum and Gardens. This mansion is the former home of cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and features one of the most comprehensive collections of eighteenth and nineteenth-century Russian Imperial art outside of Russia, as well as an extensive collection of eighteenth-century French decorative arts. Highlights include a diamond crown worn by Empress Alexandra at her marriage to Nicholas II; Beauvais tapestries designed by François Boucher; two Imperial Easter eggs by Carl Fabergé; La Nuit by William-Adolphe Bouguereau; and a collection of costumes and accessories worn by Mrs. Post or her family. The greenhouse and formal gardens are set among 25 acres of wooded hillsides located in the heart of Washington, D.C. Lunch is on your own then visit the National Portrait Gallery which includes the Hall of Presidents and famous Americams from the world of politics, sports, literature and stage. Later tour The Mansion on O Street with its 100 uniquely-themed rooms and 70 secret doors before leaving for home.
