Balloons Over Vermont, 41st Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival

 

Visit Vermont’s Green Mountains for the breathtaking Quechee Balloon Festival.  A sweet beginning.... “Taste of Vermont” at the Apple Barn and Country Bake shop and enjoy panoramic views on a ride to the top of the orchard and a slice of their signature apple pie ala mode.  Breathe in the fresh air at Billings Farm Museum and discover 19th century rural life and enjoy a countryside horse-drawn wagon ride.  Explore the quintessential New England village of Woodstock, chock full of charming Americana.  Stop for a photo-op at Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon, Quechee Gorge and take time to get nostalgic at the nearby antique mall.  Color and excitement fill the air  at the Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival...... “Balloon Glow” after dark, tons of entertainment including live music, clowns, jugglers, mimes, comedy, delicious fair food and over fifty Vermont craft displays. Stop in the 1946 New England Country Store, on the National Historic Register.  It’s like shopping in a museum with fascinating merchandise and New England antiques.

Day 1

Depart Audubon
Taste of Vermont - Visit the Apple Barn and Country Bake Shop and enjoy panoramic views on a ride to the top of the orchard, history of the orchard and area. Dig into a slice of their signature apple pie ala mode. Visit the wonderful bake shop.
Arrive at the Comfort Inn Trolley Square, Rutland, VT - (2 Night Stay)

Expanded Continental Breakfast - With hot choices.
Billings Farm Museum and Wagon Ride - Breath in the fresh air at this farm museum of Vermont's rural life with exhibits covering the 19th century to today. Tour through the charming 1890 Farm House located in the rolling Vermont hills. Experience the working dairy operation and walk through the heirloom gardens. Enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride.
Woodstock Village - Named the "quintessential New England village," the town of Woodstock is chock full of charming Americana, including a covered bridge smack in the center of town and a village green surrounded by restored Georgian, Federal Style and Greek Revival homes.

Quechee Gorge - Nestled in the Green Mountains, stop for a photo-op at "Vermont's Little Grand Canyon".
Quechee Gorge Village and Country Store - Check out Vermont's largest collection of hand crafted items and yummy local foods. Get nostalgic at the antique mall.
Quechee Hot Air Balloon Festival - A breathtaking sight - Balloon Flight 6:00pm (weather permitting). Exciting "Balloon Glow" after dark. Tons of entertainment including live music - R & B, Swing, Seventies, Jazz, Guitarists, Vocalists, Clowns, Jugglers, Mimes, Comedy Act (Entertainment Subject to Change). See over fifty Vermont craft displays.
