Day 1
Fly to Spokane, Washington, meet your Tour Director and transfer east crossing into Idaho, the Gem State. Arrive in the beautiful resort city of Coeur d'Alene Which sits on the north shore of Coeur d'Alene Lake. Arrive at the spectracular Coeur d'Alene Resort for a 2 night stay. The 18-story Lakefront resort features 338-rooms & is considered one of the best resorts in the Northwest. Enjoy a bit of free time to take a lake cruise, walk around the marina or simple enjoy a drink at the lake view bar.
Day 2
Visit the nerby historic mining town of Wallace, the entire town is on the national Historic Register and dates back to 1884. while in this true, old west town enjoy a waorking Silver Mine Tour to learn about hard rock underground mining in the richest silver district on eart. Later stop for dinner at the historic Rider Ranch, a 1300 acre real working ranch located just east of Coeur d'Arlene. Meet the descendants of this pioneer ranching family and enjoy a delicious western cookout for your Welcome Dinner.
B, DDay 3
This morning motorcoach south through the Clearwater Mountains. Stop in Idaho's oldest incorporated community historic Lewiston which sits on the famed Snake River. Next, visit the Lewis & Clark Discovery Center, located in Hells Gate State Park featuring indoor and outdoor displays and a film describing the journey of the famous explorers through Idaho. Then follow the river valley to Riggins and your quaint mountain lodge overlooking the confluence of the Salmon and Little Salmon Rivers for a 2 night stay.
B, DDay 4
Today the great Idaho outdoors await. Enjoy a soft adventure experience on a narrated speedy Snake River Jetboat Tour. Learn about the animals, plants, and legends of the famed river and jet thorugh some spectacular rapids. Enjoy a picnic lunch followed by free time at your lodge or in the small town of Riggins.
B, LDay 5
This morning motorcoach south through the Sawtooth Mountains past beautiful forests, lakes, and rivers. This is an incredibly scenic stretch of highway. Stop in the resort town of McCall on Payette Lake, originally founded as a logging town & today a year round spot for adventurists. Then motorcoach up into the Pioneer Mountains and arrive in Sun Valley (altitude 5,920') for a 2 night stay in this famous resort area. Discover why Sun Valley was a popular stop for Hollywood Celebrities Clark Gable, Gary Cooper and ice skater Sonja Henie, and ramins one of our nation's great year round resort areas.
B, DDay 6
Start a relaxing day with some morningsightseeing of the Sun valley area and its spectacular scenery. Visit the neighboring old western town of Ketchum, its lively downtown boasts a variety of resteraunts, shops and art galleries. See the Hemingway Memorial. Ernest Hemingway fell in love with the Sun Valley area and finished For Whom the Bell Tolls whie living here. Explore the several squares comprising Ketchum before having time on your own. Maybe choose to visit the Ore Wagon & Bonning Cabin Museum or have a drink at the Sawtooth Club or Whiskey Jacques, favorite haunts of Hemmingway. The afternoon is free to explore the area around your Sun Valley hotel property.Sun Valley is America's first ski resort, fonded in 1936, before even Lake Placid, ASpen or Jackson.Tonight join your fellow travelers for a Farewell Dinner in Ketchum and share storeis from your shared experiences in Idaho.
